3 Ways To Form A Better Connection With Your Body (Even If You Still Feel Shameful About It)

Jul 29, 2020

What kind of feminine empowerment class did you have when you were in school?

You know, a class where you get to learn about all the ways that your feminine body works and how to naturally heal your body and to use it’s power fully.

Wait, so...you didn’t have that type of class or gain that intimate knowledge about your Queendom (mind and body)?

Yeah, me neither!

In fact, I don’t believe that kind of class exists in our patriarchal world.

While that might not be altogether shocking or surprising in any way, it’s definitely a tragedy.

As a young girl, I was taught only about how to keep my period blood from leaking out, how to hide a tampon in my sleeve on the way to the bathroom, and how the female body can make babies.

If I had a pain or feminine discomfort, I was given a pill for an easy band-aid. If I had insomnia, headaches, low mood, or low energy then I was simply told that I was depressed or, worse, that I was “fine” and I’d feel better tomorrow.

I was not taught about hormones, working with my cycle, non-toxic feminine products, or natural birth control. I was inundated with convenient ways to hide my “time of the month” so that I didn’t make others uncomfortable.

I went 25 years inside a complicated body that I did not understand. And, because I didn’t understand it, I felt no connection to it.

Everything felt foreign. From the birth control manipulating my hormones to the antibiotics masking all the imbalances and sweeping them under the rug.

Women’s Healthcare Is Screwed Up And There’s Far Too Little Knowledge About The Female Body.

This is why I have made it my lifes’ work to discover how to teach young women about their own, unique bodies. It’s my passion to help you learn how to get rid of all the toxins floating around in your system and to form a powerful connection to your very own Queendom.

So many women go into this kind of deep inner work with a lot of shame passed down from  previous generations. (Can you say “generational leftovers”?)

All this unnecessary shame is centered around the feminine body because your female role models didn’t openly talk about the female body—or even actively avoided it. And don’t even get me started on the shame around your period. Society has never made the menstrual cycle an acceptable—or should I say comfortable—conversation.

Have you ever hidden your tampons in the basket while shopping? Remember that sleeve trick from high school? I know I used to do both of those things growing up.

We have so much shame because we were never given the knowledge and resources to dig deeply into our feminine mind and body. We just didn’t know we could because the internalized shame surrounding our feminine forms was normalized.

You’re Already Holding So Much Power In Your Divine Self

Yeah, I know. Sounds like a load of new age crap, right?

Modern society has taught us that we don’t have any power whatsoever, but...

What if I told you that you really do have all the power you need to form a deep, intuitive relationship with your Queendom within you?

Sounds pretty great, right?

Well, guess what, beautiful Queen? You DO have this power and I’m so, so excited to tell you about three ways that you can take control over your own body—and your own life—and start building a better connection with your body (yes, even if you still feel shameful about it). Today. Right now.

Are. You. Ready?!

Let's do this.

Three Ways You Can Form A Better Connection With Your Body

1. Complete Functional Medicine Lab Testing

You know how each month you spend tons of money on products and services that are supposed to handle this or that issue with your body?

C’mon, now. I know you do it, too.

Instead of continually buying products and services each month that only ever improve your outward appearance, Why not spend some money on functional medicine lab testing to really understand all of your imbalances?

Functional medicine is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on identifying and addressing the actual root cause of a disease or internal imbalance. In other words, functional medicine is more concerned with figuring out why something is happening instead of just treating or masking the symptoms.

Sounds like what the conventional doctors should be doing, huh?

We won’t get into all that (yet).

Through functional medicine lab testing you can understand:

  • Your hormones
  • Food sensitivities
  • Mineral absorption
  • Detox levels
  • Even bacterial overgrowth

Functional medicine testing takes all the guessing work out of the equation and, after getting your results, you can create a custom plan to start feeling powerful every day.

I know after I received my tests results and realized there really was something I, myself, could do, I felt my anxiety and overwhelm start to wither away and disappear. I didn’t feel like I was wandering around, alone in the dark, anymore.

I don’t know about you, but I always feel so much more relief once I know the actual facts.

Lab testing brought me to a place where I felt so much more connected to my body. I got to see how she (yes, she) is truly reacting to the things I choose to put inside my body. I saw her as a powerful machine or, better yet, a divine temple to house my unique spirit and not a foreign object any longer.

2. Try To Heal Your Body Naturally Before Reaching For Pills

How many times have you gone to the doctor and, after a scant 15 minutes of consult time, they prescribed you a pill for your problem?

I can literally feel you raising your hand.

I’ve gone through this exact scenario with my doctors way too many times to count. And do you want to know the most frustrating part? My problems would always pop right back up again as soon as I stopped taking whatever medication they’d prescribed.

At times I felt so helpless that it really made me actually hate my feminine body. Can you believe that? (I’ll bet you can. I’ll bet you experienced the same exact thing.) I resented my own body.

I hated that she couldn’t be normal and I hated that she would disrupt my life with BV (bacterial vaginosis), yeast infections, and viruses.

But, my body was not the issue. It never really was.

You see, through all of these diseases, mystery symptoms, and random ailments, what she was really doing was trying to call out for help. But, I kept shutting her up with another pill.

Another medication. Another diet. Another supplement whose only purpose was to make me think my problems had gone away.

After years and years trying and failing to “fix” my issues, I got fed up and started to do my own research.

I made the choice to seek out natural ways to heal myself before going straight to a temporary, band-aid fix.

Would using natural methods mean that it’d take longer for my body to heal?

Yes. But, once I’d healed, I would never have to deal with the same issue ever again. Worth it.

Now I have an entire, personalized tool kit at my fingertips! So, if a problem starts to arise, I have the power to heal and the deep connection to know what my body needs.

This has empowered me in ways that I can’t even begin to explain. Now I don’t have to always rely on another person, someone outside of myself who (usually) doesn’t have the time to understand me, to tell me what my body needed.

Healing naturally brought me even closer to that deep connection to my Queendom that I was craving so badly.

So, how, exactly do you heal your body naturally?

Well, once you’ve gone through lab testing with your functional medicine practitioner, your personalized plan will have all of the details that you need to make informed decisions about how you want to treat your imbalances.

3. Understand Your Cycle And Work With It

The menstrual cycle is one of the most amazing aspects of female existence.

Seriously!

In fact, it might be one of the single most amazing things in all of human existence.

It holds the power to alter your hormones, change your energy, and so much more. I mean, it even has the power to create new life. If that’s not amazing, then I don’t know what is.

Just like mother nature, we go through four seasons.

But, unlike Mother Nature—who takes an entire year to cycle through all four seasons, we do it every single month!

I used to think that I was so crazy because I felt like a different woman at different times throughout the month. I legitimately thought I was losing my mind because no one told me about my cycle or how it really worked.

Once you learn and understand how your body and mind works through the four seasons of the menstrual cycle, you won’t feel crazy anymore.

Well, okay, hormones might still make you feel a little cray sometimes, but knowing what’s happening will give you a sense of control and power that you’ve never felt before.

You will feel like the truly epic female human you are. One that has so much control!

At 27 I finally made the leap and took myself off of birth control. I started to really study my cycle. It took a few cycles to purge my body of the unnecessary hormones and really figure out what my natural rhythm was, but once I had it there was no looking back.

I was free.

Now I know exactly what is happening every single day of my cycle.

  • Work
  • Social events
  • Self-care
  • Love

Every facet of my life is now scheduled around my own, unique, beautiful cycle.

Now that’s some deep connection, right?

My body has become not only my tool but my partner. We work together as one: mind, body and spirit.

I don’t think most women get to experience that power before turning 30—maybe not even after hitting that milestone—and that is something that I am working desperately on changing.

When you start the beautiful journey towards understanding your cycle, it might seem confusing at first, but don’t give up.

Keep a journal for your cycle. Every day, jot down a few notes about how you’re feeling as you experience. I promise that, within a few short months, you’ll start to see your patterns emerge and begin to build your own plan and schedule to accommodate your seasons.

It really is that simple.

Imagine having all that power over your own body!
